avid class fun

MAUMELLE, Ark. --  Students in Ms. Tiffany Shettles-Tull's AVID class at Maumelle High School participated in an "AVID Fun Friday" activity. These students built towers by doing the spaghetti marshmallow tower challenge. The basic idea is for a team to create the tallest possible tower, made of spaghetti noodles, that can support a marshmallow. Teams are given 18 minutes to complete the challenge, which also includes tape and string.

And the point of it? The team will practice the design process that includes thinking, doing, prototyping, and iteration. This last point, iteration, may be the most important.

After the spaghetti tower challenge, students played the cup game. The cup game is a spinoff of Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes and Musical Chairs combined. Check out the video of how much fun they had in this game!
