October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Nearly 3 out of 4 Americans know someone who is or has been a victim of domestic violence. Now is time to take a stand. If you need assistance, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE(7233).
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Teachers who witness bullying should intervene immediately, assure the bullied child that it is not their fault, and address the behavior with the bully.
Oakbrooke Red Ribbon Activities: Monday (10/26) School Spirit Contest Teachers and students can decorate an area in their classroom, carve a pumpkin, or decorate a pumpkin to participate. All will be done in class. Tuesday (10/27) Put a CAP on Drugs! Wear an appropriate cap! Thursday (10/29) RED HOT about being Drug Free! Wear your DRUG FREE shirt or an appropriate RED shirt! Friday (10/30) Drugs are SCARY! Wear an appropriate Halloween Costume to school. Nothing super scary or Ms. LaMonica will have nightmares! No costume related facemasks may be worn. Please wear a cloth face mask per usual.
