November is National Diabetes Month. The CDC reports that more than one-third of U.S. adults have prediabetes which puts them on track to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is preventable through committing to a healthy lifestyle.

The Oakbrooke Elementary Library has implemented a "Bobcat Book Leaders" program this year, which is a mentor reading partnership between fifth grade and kindergarten. Each morning, a volunteer 5th grader reads a self-selected picture book to a kindergartener. This is a great way to build leadership and ownership about learning among students!
